Syncing data from TRAEDE to Klaviyo

  • Updated

Once Klaviyo is installed (see Installing Klaviyo), TRAEDE pushes B2B customer emails, product data, and order history into your Klaviyo account. This article explains what syncs, when it syncs, and how to trigger a sync manually.

What syncs to Klaviyo

TRAEDE syncs three kinds of data to Klaviyo. Everything is limited to B2B customers, products, and orders.

Data What it becomes in Klaviyo When it syncs
B2B customer emails Profiles on a Klaviyo list Nightly at midnight, and on demand
Products and variants Catalog items and catalog variants On demand only
B2B order history Four events: Placed Order, Placed Order By Company, Ordered Product, Ordered Product By Company Nightly at midnight, when a B2B order is approved, and on demand

Each sync is controlled by a toggle on the Klaviyo Settings tab, and each can be triggered manually from the Actions tab.

B2B customer emails

TRAEDE pushes the login emails of active B2B buyer users to a Klaviyo list, along with useful profile information you can use for filtering and segmentation.

What is pushed

  • The login email of every active B2B buyer user on your B2B customers.
  • Optionally, the plain contact email(s) saved on the B2B customer — enable Sync customer contact emails in Settings. Multiple contact emails separated by ; or , are supported.
  • Profile properties on each pushed profile: first name, last name, organization (the customer name), and location (the customer's primary address).
  • TRAEDE-specific profile properties for advanced segmentation: traede_health, traede_customer_groups, traede_is_active, and traede_activation_url (only if the buyer has not yet activated their TRAEDE account).

Which list is used

On the Klaviyo Settings tab, use the Use list field to pick an existing Klaviyo list. If left empty, TRAEDE creates a list called Traede the first time it syncs.

When it runs

  • Automatically: every night at 00:00.
  • Manually: go to App Store → Klaviyo → Actions and click Queue customer email push to Klaviyo. The push can take up to 30 minutes to complete.

Note: A full sync also removes profiles from the list that no longer correspond to an active B2B buyer in TRAEDE. This keeps the Klaviyo list in step with your active customer base.

Product catalogue

TRAEDE pushes your active products and their variants to Klaviyo so you can use them in newsletter product blocks and drag-and-drop templates.

What is pushed

  • Products become Klaviyo catalog Items. Title, description, image, and product URL are included.
  • Variants become Klaviyo catalog Variants linked to their parent item. SKU, images, and current stock quantity are included.
  • Each item and variant has a price. TRAEDE uses your account's base currency by default. To use another currency, set it in Default currency on the Klaviyo Settings tab. Only that one currency is sent to Klaviyo.

Split by attributes: if you set one or more values in Split by attributes on the Settings tab (for example Colour), TRAEDE will split a single TRAEDE product into several Klaviyo items — one per attribute value.

When it runs

Product catalogue sync is manual only. There is no nightly product sync. To push your products to Klaviyo:

  1. Make sure Sync products is enabled on the Klaviyo Settings tab.
  2. Go to App Store → Klaviyo → Actions.
  3. Click Queue product push to Klaviyo.

Note: When an order is synced (see below), TRAEDE also pushes the products and variants on that order automatically, so the order events can link to real items in Klaviyo.

B2B order history

TRAEDE pushes approved B2B orders to Klaviyo as four separate events. Two are meant for measuring campaign performance, and two are meant for segmentation and filtering.

The four events

Event Fires for Sent to Use for
Placed Order Each B2B order One buyer profile per B2B customer Campaign performance measurement
Placed Order By Company Each B2B order Every buyer email on the B2B customer Segmentation and filtering
Ordered Product Each order line on a B2B order One buyer profile per B2B customer Campaign performance measurement
Ordered Product By Company Each order line on a B2B order Every buyer email on the B2B customer Segmentation and filtering

The "one buyer profile per customer" events are useful for statistics: if a B2B customer has two buyer users, the order is only counted once. The "every buyer email" events are useful for building segments like every customer that has ordered in the last 10 days.

What is included on each event

Order events include the order id, order number, currency, total value (net price + shipping + handling fee), product categories, item numbers, product names, variant names, brands, and the list of items on the order. Product events include the same customer and product context, one event per line.

When it runs

  • Automatically at midnight: every night TRAEDE catches up any approved B2B orders that haven't been synced yet.
  • In near real time: when a B2B order is approved, TRAEDE sends its events to Klaviyo immediately.
  • Manually: go to App Store → Klaviyo → Actions and click Queue order history push to Klaviyo to resync your full order history.

Each order and order line is marked as synced after its events are sent, so the same order is never sent to Klaviyo twice.

Requires: Sync orders must be enabled on the Klaviyo Settings tab for any order sync (automatic, on approval, or manual) to run.
