Creating Custom fields

  • Updated

Introduction

This article explains how to create custom fields in TRAEDE. Custom fields can be used on products, variants, customers, suppliers, orders, invoices, and production delivery notes. They allow you to store additional data that is not part of TRAEDE’s standard fields and can be used for reporting, filtering, or internal documentation.

Where to find

Settings > Master data settings > Custom fields

What custom fields are used for

Custom fields allow you to store extra information such as:

  • Composition / material

  • Country of origin

  • HS tariff code

  • Internal fields for logistics, production, or compliance

  • Additional product data not included by default

These fields are displayed on the Master data tab of a product (or the corresponding tab on orders, customers, suppliers, etc.).

Access the custom fields settings

  1. Click your profile (top-right corner).

  2. Scroll down the left panel.

  3. Click Custom fields.

Here you can manage all custom field types across the system.

Available custom field categories

You will see separate sections for:

  • Production delivery note

  • Orders

  • Products

  • Product variants

  • Suppliers

  • Customers

  • Invoices

Each category allows you to create custom fields that apply specifically to that data type.

Create a new custom field

  1. Click New.

  2. Give the field a name.

  3. (Optional) Add a description.

  4. Choose where the custom field should be applied (e.g., Product, Variant, Order, Customer).

    • Note: Variant is a sub-level of Product and applies to SKUs.

Required for

You can choose whether a custom field is required for:

  • Brand users

  • Retailers

  • Customers

  • Orders

If a field is set to required, users must fill it out when creating or editing the item.
Most fields are typically set to None.

Show in table

Enable this if you want the custom field to be searchable/filterable from a list view.

Visible for

Choose who can see the custom field:

  • Brand

  • Retailers

  • Customers

If the field is for internal use only, choose Brand.

Selecting the field type

You must choose what type of custom field you want to create:

Available field types

  • Single-line text – free text entry

  • Radio select – select one value from multiple options

  • Checkbox – yes/no

  • Dropdown select – a dropdown list of predefined options

  • Dropdown (multi-select) – choose multiple options

  • Date picker – select a specific date

  • Month picker – select a month (TRAeDE saves the last day of that month)

  • Country picker – select a country (used for Country of origin)

  • Text area – multi-line free text

  • Static text – fixed text displayed to the user

Options

For dropdown, radio, or multi-select fields, you must add the specific options manually.

Grouping custom fields

You can group your custom fields to keep them organised, e.g.:

  • Product data

  • Sales

  • Reporting

  • Logistics

Groups help structure the fields inside the product or order page.

Visibility in forms

The final option, Show in forms, determines whether the field appears for users.
Example:

  • A system field used only for automation might not be visible.

Once all settings are configured, click Submit.

Refresh your browser after saving, and the new custom field will appear in the selected area inside TRAEDE.
