Add customizations of emails for customers and/or customer groups

  • Updated

Introduction

This article explains how you can create customized email settings for specific customers, countries, or customer groups in TRAEDE. This is useful when individual customers need different recipients, content, or translations compared to the default setup.

Video guide

Step 1: Add a customization for a specific customer

  1. Go to Email settings and select the relevant email (e.g. Order confirmation)

  2. Click Add customization

  3. Choose Specific customer

  4. Select the customer from the list (e.g. BAM)

  5. Click Add customization

You’ll now see a new email configuration labeled with the customer's name. Initially, it uses the settings from your global custom email, not TRAEDE’s built-in defaults.

Step 2: Overwrite default content or recipients

Let’s say BAM wants a unique subject line and a different recipient email.

  1. Click Override on the Subject line

  2. Enter the new subject (e.g., "BAM order confirmation")

  3. Click Override on the Recipients

  4. Remove existing recipients

  5. Add a specific email:

    orders@bam.com

Now, only BAM will receive the order confirmation at their custom email address, while other customers still use the default settings.

Step 3: Add a customization for a country

Customizations can also be based on customer country. This is especially useful for:

  • Local language translations

  • Country-specific recipients or formats

To do this:

  1. Click Add customization

  2. Choose Country

  3. Select a country (e.g. Denmark)

  4. Update the subject line or other fields — for example:

    Ordrebekræftelse - {{ shop.name }}

This ensures that all customers from Denmark receive a localized subject line.

How the system applies customizations

TRADE applies email settings based on the following priority:

  1. Customer-specific customizations (e.g. BAM)

  2. Country-based customizations (e.g. Denmark)

  3. Global custom email settings

  4. Built-in TRAEDE email (only if no custom email exists)

Use case: customer-specific attachments

Another strong use case is tailoring attachments for specific customers. For instance:

  • A large retail partner might require a custom order export file

  • You can attach this only to their emails using a customized setup

📌 We'll cover attachment customizations in a separate guide.

✅ You now know how to apply customized emails to individual customers, countries, or groups, allowing for highly tailored communication across different scenarios.

In the next guide, we’ll show you how to customize the Excel export attached to emails using export templates.
