You can assign price lists to customers using 2 different methods
- Customer groups
If you use Drops you are saying "this price list should only apply for orders made on these drop(s)".
If you use Customer Groups you are saying "this price list should only apply for orders made by customers in this customer group"
Note: you are free to use both Drops and Customer Groups on a price list. This means that the price list "will only apply for customers in the customer groups when they make orders on these drops"
Common use cases for Customer Groups
Typically you will use Customer Groups for special pricing agreements with certain customers. That could be department store chains or larger distributors or similar.
Common use cases for Drops
Typically you will use Drops to increase/decrease prices in the coming season, but still keep the current prices as they are. Using this method you can make pre-orders with your new prices.
