Using Webshipper Shipping Rate Plugin with Shopify

  • Updated

Introduction

This guide covers how to use the Webshipper shipping rate plugin with your Shopify store, ensuring proper setup and compatibility with TRAEDE. This plugin is commonly used for offering drop point shipping options (e.g. GLS) directly at checkout, and requires specific settings in both Shopify and TRAEDE.

⚠️ Once the Webshipper plugin is enabled in Shopify, all shipping rates must come from Webshipper. You cannot mix Shopify-native shipping rates with Webshipper ones.

Step 1: Understand what the Webshipper plugin does

When using the Webshipper shipping rate plugin in Shopify:

  • Your Shopify store pulls shipping rates directly from Webshipper.

  • The most common use is to let customers choose a drop point, e.g. GLS Drop Point.

  • You’ll see these rates under Carrier and app rates in Shopify.

Step 2: Remove Shopify-native shipping rates

You must remove all other shipping rates in Shopify, such as:

  • Native Shopify rates like “GLS Home Delivery”

  • Third-party plugins like “Coolrunner”

Only Webshipper shipping rates can be used when the plugin is active. This ensures the order data is imported correctly into TRAEDE.

Step 3: Set the shipping method in TRAEDE

  1. In TRAEDE, go to App store > Shopify

  2. At the top, set the Shipping method to Webshipper

This setting tells TRAEDE to interpret incoming orders as Webshipper-based.

📌 Even if you’re using a 3PL (external warehouse), you still need to choose Webshipper as the shipping method.

Step 4: When using a 3PL with Webshipper

If your setup involves:

  • Shopify for orders

  • Webshipper plugin for shipping rates

  • An external 3PL for fulfillment

You must still use the Webshipper plugin to generate and process shipping rates.

Why?

  • Webshipper provides the shipping rate logic and drop point selection.

  • TRAEDE uses that information to pass the right data to your 3PL.

  • You’ll still select Webshipper as the shipping method in TRAEDE.

💡 See the next guide on how to convert Webshipper shipping rates for 3PLs.

Step 5: Connect your Webshipper account in TRAEDE

  1. Go to App store in TRAEDE

  2. Find the Webshipper integration

  3. Connect your Webshipper account

🔄 This step is required even if you’re using a 3PL. TRAEDE needs to retrieve shipping rate data from Webshipper to route the order correctly.
