Introduction
This guide explains how to factory reset a Zebra scanner (such as the TC20 or TC26) and configure it for use in kiosk mode with the TRAEDE scanner app. It also covers how to access and configure DataWedge, a system app used for barcode scanning. This setup ensures the scanner is locked to the TRAEDE app and scans are correctly processed.
Steps to configure the scanner
1. Factory reset the device
Start by resetting the device to its factory settings to ensure a clean setup.
2. Activate QR code setup
-
Tap 6 times on the welcome screen.
-
This will initiate the QR code setup mode.
3. Scan the TRAEDE setup QR code
-
Scan the following QR code:
This will enable kiosk mode, which ensures the scanner always opens the TRAEDE scanner app by default.
Accessing the DataWedge app
To make sure scanning works properly, you need to configure the DataWedge app on the scanner. Accessing this app requires switching temporarily out of kiosk mode and going into the “normal Android menu” which is a little bit difficult. Follow the below steps.
Steps to open DataWedge:
-
Tap the screen 4 times rapidly
-
A password popup will appear. Enter 0000 and click OK
-
When prompted, change the launcher to Launcher3
-
You should now have access to the standard Android interface and can open DataWedge
Update the DataWedge profile
