Cancelling a production order

  • Updated

Introduction

This article explains how to correctly cancel a Purchase Order (PO) in TRAEDE — and what you must also do outside TRAEDE to ensure the cancellation is fully processed.

If you previously watched the general PO videos, this serves as the detailed follow-up.

How PO cancellations work

When cancelling a PO, there are two places where the cancellation must be performed:

1. Cancel the PO inside TRAEDE

You can delete a purchase order directly in TRAEDE by clicking the Delete button on the PO.

This removes the PO from TRAEDE and stops all internal processing.

2. Manually notify your warehouse / 3PL

If the PO was already sent to your warehouse (e.g., System Transport / Scan Global Logistics), TRAEDE cannot automatically tell them to delete it.

Just like with sales order cancellations, TRAEDE cannot send a cancellation command to the warehouse system.

Therefore:
After deleting the PO in TRAEDE, you must contact your warehouse directly and ask them to delete the PO on their side as well.

Why both steps are required

Warehouses operate on their own systems. Once a PO has been transmitted, it exists independently of TRAEDE. Deleting it only in TRAEDE may lead to:

  • The warehouse still expecting inbound goods

  • Unnecessary receiving tasks

  • Incorrect stock planning

  • Communication confusion

To avoid this, always ensure both systems are updated.
