26. Converting Webshipper shipping rates into 3PL codes

Introduction

This article explains how to convert Webshipper shipping rate IDs into the shipping codes required by your 3PL. When customers select a shipping method in Shopify, the selected rate is represented by a numeric Webshipper shipping rate ID. However, your 3PL uses its own shipping codes. TRAEDE allows you to map these two values so orders are sent to the 3PL with the correct code.

This guide is essential for brands using Webshipper shipping rates together with a warehouse that requires specific 3PL codes.

 

 

Why conversion is needed

In Shopify:

  • Customers select a shipping option (e.g. DHL Express).

  • That selection comes from Webshipper and is represented by a shipping rate ID.

Example:

  • “DHL Express” in Webshipper = Shipping rate ID 5

But your 3PL (e.g. PrimeCargo, TMC Logistics, Lagerscan, etc.) expects its own shipping code, such as:

  • DSLE for DHL Express

Therefore, TRAEDE must translate:

Webshipper rate ID → 3PL shipping code

Step 1: Find your Webshipper shipping rate ID

  1. Log into Webshipper.

  2. Go to Shipping methods.

  3. Click the shipping method you want to map (e.g. “DHL Express”).

  4. Look at the URL in your browser.

Example:

.../shipping_rates/5

Here, 5 is the Webshipper shipping rate ID.

This is the value Shopify sends to TRAEDE when a customer selects this shipping method.

Step 2: Identify your 3PL shipping code

Your warehouse will give you shipping codes such as:

  • DSLE

  • GLS-SHOP

  • POSTNORD-PP

  • etc.

These are the codes the 3PL system understands.

You must know the correct code for each shipping method.

Step 3: Create the conversion in TRAEDE

  1. Go to App store → Webshipper in TRAEDE.

  2. Open Shipping rate conversion (not “Shopify conversion”).

  3. Click Add new conversion.

Fill in:

  • From → the Webshipper shipping rate ID

    • e.g. 5

  • To → the 3PL shipping code

    • e.g. DSLE

Example:

From (Webshipper ID)To (3PL code)
5DSLE

  1. Click Save.

Result

Whenever a Shopify customer selects DHL Express:

  • Shopify sends Webshipper rate ID 5

  • TRAEDE converts 5 → DSLE

  • The 3PL receives the correct shipping code

  • Fulfillment can proceed without errors

This conversion ensures the 3PL receives the exact codes they expect.
