25. How to setup Shopify for Webshipper shipping rate plugin

  • Updated

Introduction

This article explains how to use the Webshipper shipping rate plugin together with Shopify and TRAEDE. When Webshipper is used as a shipping rate provider, Shopify displays drop points and carrier rates directly from Webshipper. Because of how TRAEDE imports shipping data, it is important that all rates come from Webshipper and that the integration is configured correctly.

This guide is essential for brands offering drop point delivery or using Webshipper to manage shipping logic.

What it means to use Webshipper as a shipping rate provider

In Shopify, go to:

Settings → Shipping and delivery → Carrier and app rates

If you see shipping rates labeled:

  • “Webshipper Shipping Rate Provider”

…it means your Shopify store uses Webshipper to calculate shipping prices and show drop points.

This is typically used to:

  • Let customers choose GLS, Bring, DAO, or PostNord drop points

  • Display accurate rates directly from Webshipper

  • Provide more flexible delivery options than Shopify supports by default

Important rule: All shipping rates must come from Webshipper

Once you start using Webshipper’s shipping rate plugin:

You must use Webshipper for all shipping rates in Shopify.

You cannot mix:

  • Shopify’s own built-in rates

  • Other carrier apps

  • Manual flat-rate shipping rules

For example, these must be removed:

  • “GLS Home Delivery” (Shopify native rate)

  • “DHL EU / DHL World” (Shopify native rate)

  • Any other non-Webshipper rate

Your Shopify shipping rates list should contain only Webshipper-provided rates.

This is required because TRAEDE needs consistent Webshipper rate data when importing orders.

Step 1: Set the shipping method type to Webshipper in TRAEDE

In TRAEDE, go to:

App store → Shopify → Shipping method

Select:

  • Webshipper as the shipping method type

This setting tells TRAEDE:

  • “Orders are created using Webshipper’s shipping rate plugin”

  • “Use Webshipper logic when interpreting shipping method data”

This must be activated whenever Webshipper provides the customer-facing rates.

Using Webshipper with or without a 3PL

There are two ways to work with Webshipper:

1. Webshipper → TRAEDE → Webshipper

This scenario is used when:

  • You ship from your own warehouse

  • You use Webshipper to book freight and print labels

2. Webshipper → TRAEDE → Third-party logistics (3PL)

This scenario is used when:

  • Customers select rates and drop points from Webshipper

  • But your orders are fulfilled by an external warehouse

  • You still need to convert Webshipper rate data for the 3PL

In both scenarios:

  • You still select Webshipper as shipping method in TRAEDE

  • TRAEDE must understand Webshipper shipping data even if the final shipment is not booked through Webshipper

If you are using a 3PL, make sure to watch the next guide:

How to convert Webshipper shipping rates for a 3PL

Step 2: Connect your Webshipper account to TRAEDE

Go to App store → Webshipper in TRAEDE.

You must connect your Webshipper account even if:

  • You do not use Webshipper to print labels, or

  • You send shipments to a 3PL for fulfillment

Why?

Because TRAEDE still needs to read Webshipper rate data from Shopify in order to interpret the order correctly.

If Webshipper provides the rate, then TRAEDE must have access to Webshipper.

Summary

When using Webshipper as a shipping rate provider:

  • All shipping rates in Shopify must come from Webshipper

  • Select Webshipper as the shipping method in TRAEDE

  • Connect your Webshipper account in TRAEDE

  • Follow the next guide if orders must be forwarded to a 3PL
