Introduction
This article explains how the Product Name field in TRAEDE synchronizes to the Title field in Shopify, including how translations and split-by-attribute settings affect the final product name.
How the product name sync works
The Product Name in TRAEDE maps directly to the Title field in Shopify.
Example:
Product Name in TRAEDE → Title in Shopify
This applies whether the product is a single product or a product split into multiple Shopify products through attribute splitting.
Using translated product names
If you have set up product locales and configured Locale prioritization for your Shopify store (see the dedicated article on translation setup), TRAEDE will:
Push the translated product name to Shopify when a translation exists.
Fall back to the default locale if fallback is enabled.
This ensures product names appear in the correct language on each Shopify store.
Product names when splitting products by attributes
If you are using Split by attributes (e.g., one product per color), TRAEDE can optionally include the color in the name. This affects how the product title appears in Shopify.
Setting: Include splitted attributes in name
When enabled:
TRAEDE adds the attribute (typically the color) to the product name.
Example:
Oslo → Oslo Beige
When disabled:
The product name remains unchanged.
Example:
Oslo → Oslo
The customer must rely on product images to see the color variation.
This setting allows merchants to choose between minimal product titles or more descriptive titles when listing variants as separate products.
Summary
The Product Name in TRAEDE syncs to the Title in Shopify.
Translated product names sync automatically when locale prioritization is configured.
When splitting products into one product per color, you can choose whether or not the color is included in the product name.
