Introduction
This article explains when TRAEDE synchronizes product data to Shopify.
Because product syncs can happen automatically and across multiple Shopify stores, it is important to understand exactly what triggers a synchronization and how to monitor sync activity through the Document exchange module.
When a product sync is triggered
TRAEDE automatically synchronizes a product to Shopify every time you save the product, as long as the product is set to Sync to Shopify = Yes in the product’s master data.
Editing any product field
Updating variants
Adding or removing images
Changing prices, descriptions, or SEO fields
Editing categories, tags, or custom fields
All of these actions will trigger a sync when the product is saved.
TRAEDE then prepares the update and sends it to Shopify in the background—no manual action is required.
How the synchronization job works
Whenever TRAEDE needs to sync product data, it creates a job in Document exchange.
You can view this under:
Settings → Document exchange
Each installed Shopify store has its own job line:
Shopify products push – Store A
Shopify products push – Store B
Shopify products push – Store C
So if you have three active Shopify stores connected to TRAEDE, you will see three separate sync jobs.
What happens when a job runs?
TRADE will:
Pick up the product changes
Push those changes to the relevant Shopify store
Update the job status to Processed once complete
In normal operation this happens automatically in the background.
In training or demo scenarios, you can manually run the job by clicking Queue.
Monitoring and troubleshooting syncs
If a synchronization fails, you will:
Receive an email notification
See the failure in Document exchange under the relevant shop
Opening the job row will show the reason for the failure so you can correct the issue and retry.
If a sync succeeds, you will not receive a notification—this is normal behavior.
Requirement: Sync must be activated on the product
A product will only sync if:
Master data → Shopify → Sync to Shopify = Yes
If this is set to No, TRAEDE will not attempt to send any product data changes to Shopify—even when you save the product.
(Inventory sync and order import are not affected by this setting.)
Summary
TRAEDE syncs product data to Shopify every time you save the product, as long as sync is enabled.
Each connected Shopify store has its own product sync job in Document exchange.
Syncs normally run automatically, but can be triggered manually if needed.
Failed syncs generate email notifications and can be reviewed in Document exchange.
Synchronization only happens if Sync to Shopify is enabled for the product.
