Working with variant fields in TRAEDE
Product attributes
Attributes define the unique characteristics of a product variant. The most common attributes are:
-
Color
-
Size
However, you can create custom attributes like:
-
Memory (for electronics)
-
Screen size (for phones or laptops)
Important rules for attributes:
-
Attributes must be consistent across all variants of a product
-
If one variant uses the “Color” attribute, all other variants of that product must also use it.
-
-
Attribute combinations must be unique per product
-
You cannot have two variants with the same combination of attributes (e.g., two variants that are both "Black / XS").
-
✅ Valid:
-
Black / XS
-
Black / S
❌ Invalid:
-
Two variants with “Black / XS”
Leaving attributes empty
If a product doesn’t require a certain attribute:
-
You can leave that attribute empty
-
Example: If jeans only come in one color, you can skip the “Color” field
SKUs (Stock Keeping Units)
The SKU is a required field and must be unique across your entire TRAEDE account.
Recommended SKU format:
Most brands use a combination of:
-
Item number
-
Color code
-
Size code
✅ Example:12345-100-XS
Where:
-
12345= Item number -
100= Color code for Black -
XS= Size
❗ You cannot create or save variants in TRAEDE without a valid, unique SKU.
EAN (European Article Number)
-
Optional field
-
You can either:
-
Enter existing EANs manually
-
Leave them empty and let TRAEDE generate them later
-
