The different shipping method code types

  • Updated

Introduction

This guide explains the different code types available when creating shipping methods in TRAEDE. Each code type determines how the shipment is processed — whether it's fulfilled manually, through a third-party logistics provider (3PL), via a freight booking system like Webshipper, or automatically.

This article is relevant for users setting up or managing shipping workflows and integrations in TRAEDE.

Manual

This code type means the shipment is created and fulfilled manually inside TRAEDE. No external system is involved.

  • A user must go into TRAEDE and manually fulfill the shipment.

  • No automation is involved.

  • Use when you pack and ship from your own location.

3PL (third-party logistics)

This code type is used when TRAEDE is integrated with an external warehouse system, such as:

  • PrimeCargo

  • TMC Logistics

  • Skanlog

When using this type:

  1. You must have the corresponding 3PL app installed in TRAEDE.

  2. Select the 3PL provider as the code type.

  3. Enter the correct code that matches the shipping method in the 3PL’s system.

Example:

  • Code type: primecargo

  • Code: 25409 (e.g. DHL Express in PrimeCargo)

⚠️ The code must already exist in the 3PL’s system. TRAEDE simply tells the 3PL which method to use — it doesn't create it for them.

Freight booker (e.g. Webshipper, Coolrunner)

Use this when you're connected to a freight booking system. These platforms handle the booking with the carrier for you.

Steps:

  1. Select the freight booker (e.g. Webshipper) as code type.

  2. In Webshipper, you must first create a shipping rate (e.g. DHL Express).

  3. Enter the shipping rate ID into TRAEDE.

Example:

  • Webshipper shipping rate: DHL Express

  • ID: 6

  • Enter 6 in TRAEDE as the code.

📌 TRAEDE sends this ID to Webshipper so it knows which freight option to book.

Auto fulfill

Use this for shipments that don’t need manual fulfillment in TRAEDE. Common for:

  • Shipments sent directly from a supplier to a customer (e.g. dropshipping or production orders).

  • Transfers from consignment locations back to your warehouse.

How it works:

  1. Create a shipping method and choose the auto fulfill code type.

  2. Use this method in your production module or consignment flow.

  3. TRAEDE automatically completes the shipment and issues the sales invoice.

⚠️ This simulates that the supplier or external location fulfilled the shipment, without manual action inside TRAEDE.

Combine with other shipments

Used when multiple shipments go to the same customer and you want to generate only one shipping label.

  • Use a normal shipping method (e.g. DHL Express) for the first shipment.

  • Use “combine with other shipments” as the code type for the second shipment.

Result:

  • Two shipments in TRAEDE.

  • Only one shipping label is created.

  • You can pack them together in real life.
