Introduction

This guide introduces bundle variants in TRAEDE — variants that consist of other variants. Bundle variants are ideal for selling pre-packed sets, kits, or combinations of products. This article shows how to create bundles, how inventory is calculated, and how bundles can include variants from multiple products.

Understanding bundles

What is a bundle?

A bundle is a variant that consists of multiple quantities of other product variants. For example:

  • A bundle called Black Pack might include:

    • 2 × Size 37

    • 3 × Size 38

    • 1 × Size 39

This bundle doesn’t have its own independent inventory. Instead, its availability depends on the inventory levels of the sub-components.

How is bundle inventory calculated?

The inventory of a bundle is determined by the lowest available sub-component.

Example:

  • Stock levels:

    • Size 37: 1

    • Size 38: 3

    • Size 39: 1

  • Since 2 units of Size 37 are needed but only 1 is in stock, the available bundle quantity is 0

How to create a bundle variant

Step 1: Enable bundle columns

In the product’s Variants tab:

  1. Click the “Columns” button

  2. Enable the “Bundle” and “Edit bundle” columns

Step 2: Open the bundle editor

Next to the variant you want to turn into a bundle:

  1. Click “Edit bundle”

  2. A window will open to define the sub-component SKUs

Step 3: Add SKUs to the bundle

  1. Click “Add new SKU” for each component

  2. Select the SKUs (variants) that make up the bundle

  3. Enter the quantity needed for each SKU

  4. Click Save

Example:

  • 2 × 37

  • 3 × 38

  • 1 × 39

After saving, you will see the bundle contents appear in the variants table.

Step 4: Check inventory

Go to the Inventory tab:

  • You’ll see a "B" icon under In stock, indicating it's a bundle

  • The available quantity reflects how many complete bundles can be created from the current stock of sub-components

Creating bundles across products

You’re not limited to variants from a single product. You can create bundles that consist of variants from different products.

Example

  • Create a new product called Wood + Willis Set

  • Add a variant that represents a combination, e.g.,:

    • 2 × Redwood in Mahogany

    • 3 × Willis in Glazed Blue

To set up:

  1. Open the variant’s Edit bundle window

  2. Add the SKUs from the two different products

  3. Specify the quantities

  4. Click Save

Once you add inventory to the individual SKUs, the bundle availability will update automatically.
