Orders Autolines

Orders autolines automatically add a free companion product to an order whenever a matching product is on it — for example, adding 2 shoe boxes for every pair of shoes ordered. It's an advanced setting most brands don't need; skip this article unless you specifically want products to bundle automatically.

Setting up a rule

  1. Go to Settings → Sales → Orders autolines.
  2. Click Add rule.
  3. Under Trigger, choose what should trigger the rule: a Variant SKUProductProduct group, or Category, then select the specific value(s).
  4. In the SKU to add field, enter the SKU of the product to auto-add. You can enter more than one SKU, separated by commas, to add several products.
  5. In the Quantity field, enter the multiplier (see below for how this works).
  6. Click Save.

Note: A product can't trigger its own autoline. If a SKU is both a trigger and the auto-added product in the same rule, that line is skipped.

How the quantity multiplier works

The quantity you set is a multiplier of the triggering item's quantity, not a fixed amount.

Example: a rule auto-adds SKU BOX-01 at quantity 2, triggered by anything in the Shoes category. A customer orders 5 pairs of shoes → 10 × BOX-01 is added automatically. They add 3 more pairs later → it becomes 16 × BOX-01. They remove the shoes entirely → the boxes disappear.

What happens on the order

The auto-added line is free (price 0) and marked as automatic. It stays in sync with the triggering item:

  • Increasing, decreasing, or splitting the triggering line recalculates the auto quantity.
  • Deleting all triggering lines drops the auto quantity to zero.
  • You can manually change the auto line's quantity yourself — that change is respected and won't be overwritten by the automatic recalculation.

Where auto lines show up

Auto-added lines are visible like any other line while you're editing an order. They're hidden on printed and PDF documents — order confirmation, invoice, and credit note — so customers never see them. You can also choose to exclude them from Excel exports.

What autolines rules don't do

Rules only match by SKU, product, product group, or category. They aren't connected to discounts, shipping fees, promotions, minimum order values, customer groups, or date ranges.

Autolines run on normal orders and on orders imported from Shopify. They don't run on internal stock transfer orders or consignment orders.

Troubleshooting

If the SKU configured to be auto-added no longer exists — for example, it was deleted or renamed — saving an order that triggers that rule will fail. Go back to Settings → Sales → Orders autolines and update the rule with a valid SKU.
