A product group is an internal way to organize your products into custom folders or segments. Product groups are for your team's own use only — they're never shown to customers in the webshop, and they don't sync to external systems like Shopify.
Not to be confused with: "product groups" also exists as a separate, accounting-side concept when invoicing through TRAEDE's Fakturamodul into e-conomic. That's a different feature entirely — see the note further down.
What you can use them for
- Sales campaigns: gather all the products going into a campaign — for example, everything included in a Black Friday push.
- Performance tracking: flag and follow low-performing products as a group.
- Custom internal folders: any other way of organizing products that fits your team's workflow.
- Filtering the product list: pull up every product in a given group in one click.
Assigning a product to a group
You set a product's group on its Master Data page, in the Product group field.
Filtering the product list by group
- Go to Product list.
- Click Add filter.
- Choose Product group and select the group you want.
How product groups compare to similar features
TRAEDE has five ways to organize products, and they're easy to mix up because several look similar on the surface. Product groups are the only one of the five that's purely internal.
| Feature | Visible to customers | Synced externally | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Category | Yes | Yes | Webshop navigation and browsing. |
| Brand / Subbrand | Yes | Yes | Letting customers filter by sub-brand. |
| Collection | Yes | Yes | Seasonal or campaign-based grouping (e.g. SS24). |
| Product group | No | No | Internal organization only — campaigns, performance tracking, custom folders. |
| Tags | Varies | Yes | Similar to product groups, but typically used to push labels to external systems (e.g. an "on sale" tag synced to Shopify). |
