Introduction

This guide explains how to enable and configure gift card refunds in the return portal in TRAEDE. This feature allows you to offer refunds as gift cards, optionally with an additional bonus — either a percentage-based or a fixed amount. It is useful for encouraging customers to choose store credit over cash refunds.

Navigate to return portal settings

1. From the TRAEDE home screen, go to Settings

2. Navigate to Returns > Return portals

3. Click on the return portal you want to configure

4. Press Edit on that return portal

Enable gift card refunding

1. Go to the Refund methods section

2. Enable the toggle for Gift card refund

Configure the gift card bonus

After enabling gift card refunds, you can choose to give customers a bonus when selecting gift card instead of a cash refund. This can either be a percentage or a fixed amount.

Percentage bonus

1. Under Gift card bonus type, select Percentage

2. Enter the bonus percentage in the input field (e.g., 15 for 15%)

This means that if a customer chooses a gift card refund, they will receive 15% more than the original refund value.

Fixed amount bonus

1. Under Gift card bonus type, select Fixed amount

2. Enter the fixed bonus value (e.g., 15)

This means that a fixed value (e.g., 15 of your store's currency) will be added to the gift card refund regardless of the returned amount.
