Introduction
In some cases, brands may want to place orders even if the requested quantity is not currently in stock. By default, TRAEDE prevents this to avoid over-selling. However, this restriction can be temporarily disabled via the inventory settings.
This guide explains how to override this rule and allow brands to order more than what's available in stock.
When does this issue occur?
You may see an error message when trying to approve an order that exceeds the available inventory:
❗ "Not enough in stock to reach the order quantity."
This prevents brands from placing orders if there isn’t sufficient stock.
How to override stock limitations
To temporarily allow brands to order beyond available stock:
Go to Settings.
Select Inventory settings.
Uncheck the box:
“Brands are not allowed to buy more than what is in stock.”Click Save.
Place the order again
Return to the Order list.
Try placing the same order again — even if all product variants show zero in stock.
Approve the order.
The system will now let the brand place the order, even though stock is insufficient.
Re-enable the stock limit setting
Once the order has been placed, it's recommended to re-enable the stock limit setting:
Go back to Inventory settings.
Re-check the box:
“Brands are not allowed to buy more than what is in stock.”Press Save.
This ensures normal restrictions are reapplied for all future orders.
