How to change customer number series

Introduction
This article explains how to change and manage the customer number series in TRAEDE. Adjusting the customer numbering is useful when migrating from an old system or when you want TRAEDE to automatically generate customer numbers based on a specific structure, such as VAT numbers.

 

 

Access the customer number settings

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Select Sales settings.

  3. Locate the section called Number system.

 


Set a new customer start ID

If you are migrating from an old system—such as e-conomic—and you already have existing customers with high customer numbers, you can continue the sequence in TRAEDE.

Example

If the last customer number in your old system was 4000, and you want TRAEDE to continue from 4001:

  1. Enter 4001 in Customer start ID.

  2. Enable Auto generate customer numbers.

  3. Enable Approval if required by your workflow.

  4. Click Save.

 


Use VAT number as customer number

TRADE also allows you to use a customer’s VAT number as their customer number.

To enable this:

  1. Enable the VAT number as customer number option.

  2. Click Save.

When this setting is active, TRAEDE will automatically assign the VAT number as the customer’s ID when creating new customers. The Customer start ID will only be used if a VAT number is not available or applicable.
