Introduction
By following this guide, you can set up and manage your Return Portal in Traede, making the return process smoother for both you and your customers. If you need further assistance or have questions, please reach out to support.
Steps to Set Up a Return Portal
- Access the Return Portal settings
- Navigate to Settings.
- Under Settings, find and click on Return Portal.
- Create the Return Portal link
- In the Return Portal setting, you'll be able to generate a Return Portal link. This link will be used by your customers to initiate returns.
- Start by clicking on "+ Add new return portal"
- Provide the following details:
- Name: Enter a recognizable name for the portal.
- Locale: Select the language for your customers.
- Freight integration: If you are using Webshipper or Shipmondo, select it from the dropdown to integrate shipping labels directly.
- Set return conditions
- Maximum days for returns: Define the maximum number of days after purchase that customers are allowed to return items.
- Return address: Enter the address where the returned items should be sent.
- Inventory location: Choose the inventory location where returned goods will be received.
- Require approval for returns (Optional)

You can enable a setting that requires all returns to be approved before processing. This can be set globally or for specific return reasons.

- Configure shipping methods
- If you use a shipping provider, you will be able to set specific shipping methods for different return types, such as domestic or international returns.
- Choose the shipping method for each region or country. If you don't have an integration, proceed without configuring shipping.
- Set Claim causes
- Configure the Claim causes, or reasons, for returns. Examples include:
- Wrong size
- Defective product
- Other
- Map these causes to claim reasons that have already been created in Traede for consistency.
- Configure the Claim causes, or reasons, for returns. Examples include:
- Define Refund methods
- Set return and claim methods, such as:
- Return, Claim, Exchange.
- Return, Claim, Exchange.
- Set return and claim methods, such as:
- Finalize and generate portal link
- Once all the configurations are done, click Save.
- You will now have a return portal link that can be added to your website (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce).
Processing Returns
Once the portal is set up, customers will be able to use the link to initiate returns by entering their order number and email. Depending on your setup:
- If you are using Webshipper or Shipmondo, a return label will be automatically generated and sent to the customer.
- If you don't have a shipping provider, you will need to manually send a return label to the customer.
After receiving the returned goods:
- Mark the return as received in Traede
- Go to Sales > Returns.
- Find the RMA that is received, and click on the number.
- Check that the products are correct, and press "Receive return".
- A credit note will be created, and the returned items will be restocked in inventory, ready for resale.
