Introduction
This article explains how to auto generate packing routes in TRAEDE. Auto generation is useful when you have a large number of shipments—for example after a sale or launch event—and need TRAEDE to group them into efficient packing routes automatically. The article covers the different generation modes, settings, and how to review the generated routes.
Generate packing routes manually (normal method)
Normally, packing routes are generated by:
Selecting the shipments via the checkbox.
Clicking Create packing route.
However, if you have many shipments, this can be time-consuming. For that reason, TRAEDE includes an Auto generate packing routes feature.
Using the auto generation function
Go to your list of shipments.
Click Auto generate packing routes at the top right of the page.
This opens a window where you can customize how the packing routes should be generated.
Understanding the generation modes
You can choose between four generation modes:
1. Separate one-product and normal packing routes
Shipments containing one product only are grouped into one product packing routes.
Shipments containing more than one product are grouped into normal packing routes.
This is the most common setup, as one-product routes are often faster to pack independently.
2. All shipments generated as normal packing routes
Ignores whether a shipment has one or multiple products.
Every shipment is packed in standard (normal) packing routes.
3. Generate only normal packing routes
Ignores and excludes any shipment that contains only one product.
Only multi-product shipments are included.
4. Generate only one-product packing routes
Ignores and excludes all shipments with more than one product.
Only one-product shipments are included.
Shipment limits per packing route
These settings control how many shipments TRAEDE will put into each route:
Normal packing routes
Defines the maximum number of shipments per normal route (e.g., 16).
You should adjust this to match your warehouse wagons.
If a wagon holds 16 boxes → set to 16
If it holds 8 → set to 8
One-product packing routes
Defines how many shipments may be grouped together (e.g., 50).
Example: If you have 175 one-product shipments and your limit is 50 → TRAEDE creates:
3 routes with 50
1 route with 25
Shipment exclusion rules
TRAEDE allows you to exclude shipments from being included in auto-generated routes:
1. Exclude large shipments
Example:
If a shipment contains more than 10 pieces, TRAEDE can ignore it.
Useful for large B2B orders that should be packed individually.
2. Exclude shipments missing warehouse locations
If a shipment contains products without warehouse locations, TRAEDE can skip it.
Turning this option off means all shipments are included regardless of locations.
Generate the packing routes
Once your settings are correct, click Generate.
All settings used here can be changed permanently in your Shipping settings.
TRAEDE will now generate the routes.
Viewing the generated packing routes
After generation, you will see the new packing routes listed:
Normal packing routes
Example:
1 route with 16 shipments
1 route with 14 shipments
One-product packing routes
Example:
1 route with 15 one-product shipments
Shipment grouping is based on:
Number of products in the shipment
Maximum shipment limits
Exclusion rules
Warehouse locations
