Creating low inventory alerts for products

  • Updated

Introduction
This article explains how to set up and use low inventory alerts within TRAEDE’s product replenishment settings. Low inventory alerts help you stay informed when stock on specific locations, colors, or variants reaches a defined threshold. This guide is relevant for all users managing inventory across multiple warehouses or consignment locations.

Understanding low inventory alerts

Low inventory alerts notify you automatically when inventory for a product reaches a specific minimum level. These alerts can help you:

  • Reorder products from suppliers when stock gets low.

  • Move products between locations (e.g., from your main warehouse to a consignment location).

You can configure alerts per inventory location, product, color, and variant.

Access the replenishment settings

  1. Go to your product and open the Replenishment tab.

  2. Each row in this section represents an inventory location.

Replenishable toggle

  • Enable Replenishable if the product should be included in replenishment calculations.

  • Disabling this toggle means the product will no longer trigger any alerts.

Minimum inventory

Use the Minimum inventory field to define when an alert should trigger.
Example:

  • Setting the value to 10 means the product triggers an alert when stock reaches 10 or below at that specific location.

Override alert settings

You can override the system-wide alert settings per product:

  • Select Override alerts to change the default behavior.

  • You can disable alerts entirely for that product.

  • You can also select a different alert policy (e.g., if a specific product should follow a different notification rule).

If you are unsure about alert policies, refer to the general guide on inventory alert settings.

Variant mode

Variant mode allows you to choose how detailed your alert setup should be:

  • Product level – one alert setting for the entire product.

  • Color level – separate settings per product color.

  • Variant level – separate settings per size/color combination.

Example: Color-based setup

If your best-selling color is black, you might want:

  • Minimum inventory of 50 for black

  • Minimum inventory of 10 for other colors

  • No replenishment settings at all for certain less important colors

Location-specific variant settings

Settings are defined per location.
Example:
At a consignment location (e.g., Illum), certain variants sell better:

  • Black 37 and Black 38 may require higher minimum levels

  • Black 36 may require a smaller threshold

You can adjust each variant individually when Variant mode is selected.

Low inventory report

TRAEDE automatically generates the low inventory report every night.
The system checks:

  • Current stock levels

  • Your alert configurations

  • Variants or colors that fall below their defined thresholds

All relevant products are then compiled and sent to you based on your alert policy settings.

For more details about how and when alerts are sent, refer to the guide on inventory alert settings.
