Create a segmentation

  • Updated

Introduction
This article explains how to create and manage product segmentation in TRAEDE. Segmentation allows you to control which customers, customer groups, or brand users can buy specific products or variants. This is useful when you want to restrict access to special collections, exclusive editions, or controlled product lines.

What is segmentation?

Segmentation gives you the ability to limit visibility and purchase access to selected products. Typical use cases include:

  • Products that should only be sold to specific customers

  • Exclusive collections for selected customer groups

  • Limiting access on the webshop to certain variants or product groups

You can segment at different levels depending on your needs.

Create a new segmentation rule

  1. Go to Products.

  2. Select Segmentation.

  3. Click Add segmentation rule.

  4. Give your rule a descriptive title (e.g., Special edition blazers).

Buy side and sales side types

These define what will be restricted and who the restriction applies to.

  • Buy side type: What you are segmenting (e.g., product group, product, variant).

  • Sales side type: Who the rules apply to (e.g., customer, customer group, brand user).

Example setup:

  • Buy side type → Product group

  • Sales side type → Customer

Create the required product group

If you plan to segment using a product group:

  1. Go to Products → Product groups.

  2. Click Add product group.

  3. Name the group (e.g., Blazer edition).

  4. Save the new product group.

Add products to the product group

  1. Go to Products.

  2. Select the products you want to include using the checkboxes.

  3. Click ActionsBulk update data.

  4. Select Product group.

  5. Choose the newly created group.

  6. Click Update.

Add segmentation rules

  1. Return to Products → Segmentation.

  2. Find your rule and click Edit.

  3. Click Add rule.

  4. Select the product group you created.

  5. Choose how the rule should work:

Rule types

  1. Can only be bought by

    • Only the selected customer/customer group can buy these products.

  2. Can only buy

    • The selected customer/customer group can only buy products from this product group (all other products are hidden).

  3. Cannot be bought by

    • The selected customer/customer group is restricted from buying these products.

For the example from the video:

  • Choose Can only be bought by

  • Select the specific customer

  • Click Save

Result on the webshop

Once saved:

  • The selected customer will see and be able to purchase the products in that product group.

  • Other customers will not see those products at all.

This ensures controlled access to specific product collections.
