4. How does the product sync work?

  • Updated

Introduction

This article provides an overview of how product synchronization works between TRAEDE and Shopify. Product synchronization is one of the most flexible and configurable parts of the Shopify integration, and it's important to understand how TRAEDE decides which products should be synced and when updates are sent to Shopify.

Enabling or disabling product synchronization

Each product in TRAEDE has a setting that determines whether TRAEDE should sync its product data to Shopify.

You can find this under:

Product → Master data → Shopify → Sync to Shopify (Yes/No)

  • Yes → TRAEDE sends product updates to Shopify.

  • No → TRAEDE will not send product data to Shopify.

What happens when sync is set to “Yes”?

Whenever you edit the product and click Save, TRAEDE will queue a product update.
This update will be pushed to Shopify within a few minutes.
Examples of changes that trigger a sync:

  • Product name

  • Descriptions

  • Images

  • Prices

  • SKU-related changes

  • Category or tag fields

  • Custom fields (if enabled)

TRAEDE queues these updates automatically—no manual push is needed.

What does NOT change when sync is set to “No”?

Setting Sync to Shopify = No only disables product data synchronization.

TRADE will still:

  • Update inventory levels for that product in Shopify

  • Import orders containing that product

  • Support fulfillment flows as normal

This setting only controls whether TRAEDE pushes product information, not whether the product participates in the rest of the Shopify integration.

When would you use “No”?

Typical scenarios:

  • The product is managed manually in Shopify for special reasons

  • The product is not supposed to appear in Shopify

  • A developer or agency handles this product only in Shopify and doesn’t want TRAEDE to override it

Bulk-updating the Shopify sync setting

If you need to enable or disable synchronization for many products at once:

  1. Go to Products.

  2. Select the products you want to modify.

  3. Click Bulk update data.

  4. Choose Sync to Shopify.

  5. Set the desired value (Yes/No).

  6. Save.

TRAEDE will apply the chosen setting to all selected products and push updates where relevant.

Summary

  • The Sync to Shopify flag determines whether TRAEDE controls and updates product data in Shopify.

  • Inventory synchronization and order import are not affected by this setting.

  • Any saved changes to a synced product will automatically trigger an update in Shopify.

  • You can bulk update this setting for multiple products at once.
